Hola, Nate. Disfruté mucho tu artículo, y me gustó especialmente leer el artículo en dos idiomas! Vivía en Cuernavaca, México durante el verano hace mucho tiempo para estudiar español y tienes razón, era una experiencia que me cambiaba la vida. Love how this is written in both English and Spanish. I find it very helpful as I do the same when communicating with my wife’s family in Guayaquil, Ecuador. As I become more proficient in Spanish, they can improve their English as well. We have a lot in common as I am a blond haired gringo who has traveled South America as well. While my wife and I live in Florida along with our two beautiful children, I am highly interested in moving down to Ecuador so my wife can be closer to her family and friends. I love it down there. As I embark on my goal to become 100% fluent, I found your wife’s YouTube channel and have watched a plethora of her videos to improve my Spanish. I am close to becoming fluent, but I know if I live down there I need to improve. Thanks for the videos and information as well.

This was great. I’m about to embark upon another attempt to learn spanish, having decided that I’d like to make 2020 the year that I make it a priority. I have only taken 1 formal semester of spanish, but can understand more than what would normally be associated with one semester, because my friends at various times over the years were Spanish speakers and I would attend their gatherings and everyone would be speaking Spanish. When people realized that I did not speak Spanish, they would switch into English, but I would ask them to switch back into Spanish so that I can learn and because I didn’t think a group of 10 or more people needed to accommodate one person – one person needs to learn to adapt to the larger group! Anyway, it was interesting to me that after such an extended break away from Spanish – several years – I was actually able to understand your story. That tells me that I have retained a lot more of the Spanish in my subconscious than I realized, and that makes me really excited! So thanks for writing it in both languages and congrats to you and your wife.
